Today was 0 miles hiked. Our total remains 446 miles, overall.
Today’s rest day is in Navarrenx, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Okay, you’ve heard that before. Actually, we’ve traveled through about seven “most beautiful villages in France” on this trip. The term is an official designation given to about 150 villages throughout France. These villages introduce themselves with signs like this one, from Montreal de Gers.
So, we’ve seen about 5% of them. Not bad …
Speaking of signs, here’s an always helpful public service announcement from your feet that we saw coming out of Arzacq.
(Hint: it’s about angry feet!)
And the animals, here’s a friend Diane made in the village of Eauze.
There has been an abundance of the cute varieties of animals.
And we’ll close this out- takes review with a credit to Diane’s fighting spirit. Here’s a photo from Moissaic:
Maintenant, on va profiter de notre repos!
A demain!
Are those the statues of the four musketeers? Or should I say five including Diane? Looks like you had a fun day taking a day off. But you still probably walked 4 or 5 miles, right? The only bad thing about you walking in France is that I’ve never taken French and so I have no clue how to pronounce the names of the towns that you’re in. So when somebody asked me where are Bill and Diane, I have to say somewhere in France. Because I don’t know how to pronounce the towns, LOL. Sounds like you guys of gotten really good with your French though. Love you both
Hi Willow! We join you in that inability to pronounce the names! We’re nearly hopeless in that count … but we try. We’re getting better in the ‘what french words to say’ category, but we’re still really bad in the ‘how to say it’ category. Oh well, in four days we’ll be in Spanish speaking territory, so our troubled tongues can take a breather 😊!
Oh, those are statues of the four musketeers … Victor Hugo’s story had its origins in this area.
Cool!
One for all and all for one!
Hi Bill & Dianne we loved the section you have walked in the past week last year. Great seeing you photo’s. Regards Ross & Chantal
Greetings Ross & Chantal! It’s really fun when a photo or a story brings back good memories. We’re glad our stories and photos are bringing back good memories for you two. We are now two days from St. Jean Pied de Port, so we’re trying to extract every ounce of memory from this Chemin. Hope all is well. Bill and Diane
